Mississauga, Ontario Keeps Tolerances – Manages Costs with E-Coat
There are two properties of E-Coating that make it the choice of Mississauga area manufacturers. First is its ability to conform to complex shapes without taking the part out of tolerance, thereby maintaining functional integrity. Next is its ability to achieve attractive finishes efficiently with lower environmental impact.
Superior Performance of Cathodic E-Coating
The process of E-Coating is based upon the fundamental physical principle that materials with opposite electrical charges attract each other. This principle applies whether the part is negatively or positively charged, when the paint to be used has the opposite charge to the part. When electrically charged metal part is immersed in a bath of oppositely charged paint particles the paint particles are drawn to the metal part and paint is deposited on the part. Onbelay uses a Cathodic system where the part has a negative (-) charge and the paint has a positive (+) charge for the superior durability achieved on a variety of metal substrates, with good corrosion and salt spray resistance.
E-Coating Start to Finish
The standard steps to the E-Coating process is divided into 4 distinct zones.
Zone 1- Pretreatment to prepare the part substrate for e-coating
- Load, Cleaner
- Water Rinse
- Rinse Conditioner
- Water Rinse
- Non-Chrome Sealer
- Deionized Water
Zone 2 – E-coat Dip Tank is where the coating is applied and the process is controlled
Zone 3 – Post Rinses which provide both quality and conservation
- Permeate Rinse 1
- Permeate Rinse 2
- Water Rinse 3
Zone 4 – Bake Oven which receives the parts after post rinses and cures the paint film to assure maximum performance properties
When this sequence is complete the finished parts are unloaded and packed for shipment to your Mississauga, Ontario business, or directly to your customer.
